When I saw the trailer for The Acolyte, the new Star Wars show from Disney+, I can’t say I was terribly excited by it. It looked mildly interesting, like most of the Star Wars content Disney churns out these days, but nothing more than that. Then I saw a picture of an upcoming Hasbro figure from this new series: Jecki Lon, a half alien Jedi-in-training, with pale skin. “She looks cool”, I thought to myself, so I watched the trailer once again to get a better look at her. Unfortunately, she’s only briefly visible a couple of times in the trailer, but at least you can hear her remark “What is that?”, just before an enemy attack.

Not satisfied with this, I went off to look for more info on Jecki Lon, and this was when I found out something that I found very interesting: she is being played by none other than Dafne Keen! 😆 With all the pasty white make-up she has on, she is very hard to recognise, but watching the trailer for a third time, I can see it clearly is her. I’ve been a fan of Ms. Keen ever since I saw her in Logan, and I thought she was great in His Dark Materials, where she played Lyra Belacqua, the series’ protagonist. So now that I am aware of her involvement in The Acolyte, I am certainly a lot more inclined to check it out. That is, of course, assuming that Jecki Lon is a central character in it. It’ll be a real bummer if she ends up perishing within the first couple of episodes. 😬

The first two episodes of The Acolyte are due to premiere on Disney+ in June.
