New Heroine Headshot: Yumi from “Ulysses 31”

I’ve decided to try a new type of fan art, which I’ve coined “Heroine Headshots”. I often get the urge to draw fan art of female characters I find interesting, but I don’t really have the drive these days to do full-blown illustrations, so hopefully these mini-illustrations will satisfy that urge. Anyway, first up is Yumi (AKA Thémis in French) frim Ulysses 31, who I wrote a brief post on at the beginning of this year. As I said in that post, I’m not really a fan of Ulysses 31, but I’ve always had a soft spot for cute alien girls😁

Daily Heroine: Yumi

Today’s Daily Heroine is: Yumi (Themis in the original), the small, blue-skinned alien girl with psychic powers from the French/Japanese cartoon Ulysses 31 (known as Ulysse 31 in French), which first aired in 1981. I’m not sure who voiced Yumi in the English version, but according to Wikipedia she was voiced by Séverine Morisot in the French version. I watched a bit of Ulysses 31 when I was a kid, but I never really got into it; I thought that sci-fi and Greek mythology did not go well together. But there’s no doubting that this is (for its time, anyway) a quality production, by the studio that made Inspector Gadget (my favourite cartoon of all time). So perhaps I should give it another go. And I certainly would like to find out more about Yumi; I have a big weak spot for cute alien girls, especially blue-skinned ones!😋

I’m always on the look out for new interesting and likeable heroines, so if you have a particular favourite, please tell me about her! Till tomorrow, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you.😊
