The end of another year is nearly here and so it is time for one of my personal traditions: a drawing of Evie Garland from the 80s sit-com Out of this World. Every year I try to draw a picture of Evie to commemorate the birthday of the actress who portrayed her, the lovely Maureen Flannigan, whose birthday is today, December 30. This year I didn’t have much time to plan this drawing, so I simply chose to draw Evie as she appeared in one of my favourite episodes, titled The Three Faces of Evie. In that episode, Evie uses her alien powers to make herself older and the result is what I based my illustration on. Incidentally, this is the episode in which Evie utters the line “Au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you!”, which I have used as the closing line on many of my posts on moedimension in the past, although I don’t think I’ve used it that much lately.😊
Today’s Daily Heroine is: Evie Ethel Garland (played by the lovely and exceptionally talented Maureen Flannigan) from the cult American sci-fi sit-com titled Out of this World, which was first broadcast in 1987. Boy, did I have a crush on Evie as a kid, After all, she’s cute, she’s clever and she’s kind. Oh, and her father is an alien, so she has special, superhuman powers too! How fantastic is that?😆 As for Out of this World in general, I think it’s a lot of fun. Nothing fancy, just a simple, good-natured light comedy, that never fails to give me a chuckle or too when I watch it. Unfortunately it has never had a complete DVD or Blu-ray release, and this is apparently due to legal issues. But maybe one day…? I can always dream!😄
I’m always on the look out for new interesting and likeable heroines, so if you have a particular favourite, please tell me about her! Till tomorrow, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you.😊
Today is December 30, the birthday of one of my biggest childhood crushes, Maureen Flannigan. And so, as I’ve done for several years now, I’ve drawn a picture of Ms Flannigan as Evie Garland from the 80s sitcom Out of this World. Like last year’s drawing, I imagined Out of this World as a Japanese Comic and I used the very first episode, where Evie learns the truth about her Dad, for inspiration. I simply adore Ms Flannigan’s hairstyles in this episode, especially this one. But I really do wonder… How many more years will it be before these drawings actually start looking like Evie?😅 Anyway, due to the fact that today, in my part of the world, it will be ridiculously hot (43°C!), this will most definitely be my final post for 2019. So until 2020, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you!😊
Today, December 30, is the 45th birthday of one of my childhood crushes, the lovely and talented Maureen Flannigan. In recent years, I have made it a tradition to commemorate Maureen‘s birthday by drawing a birthday-themed picture of Maureen as Evie Garland, the central character of my favourite 80s sitcom, Out of this World.
Today (December 30) is the 44th birthday of Maureen Flannigan, the star of one of my favourite sit-coms, Out of this World! I’m not very good at portraits, but for this special occasion I’ve once again made an attempt to draw a picture of Maureen as Evie, the character she played on Out of this World. Till next time, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you!😊
