Happy Birthday Natalie Portman!

I hope Natalie Portman is enjoying her 36th birthday! But to be honest, this post wasn’t going to be about her birthday at all. You see, I wasn’t actually aware that she was born on June 9 until a couple of hours ago, when I saw a congratulatory post for her on the official Star Wars account on Tumblr. But by happy coincidence, I had already started working on this illustration (which is a depiction of a young Natalie Portman as Mathilda from the 1994 film The Professional) after the girlsportraiture blog put the idea into my head for it yesterday. So I thank them for that!🙂 Anyway, once I realised June 9 was Ms Portman’s birthday I made a big effort to finish this picture as quickly as I could. Therefore, it’s a bit rushed and I’m not that confident in the resemblance, but it was fun to do. And although where I am it’s already June 10, it’s still June 9 in America, where I believe Ms Portman now resides, so I’m happy!😀

Till next time, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you!

Star Wars Battlefront II Gag

New Fan Art: X-23-23

Yesterday, I went to see Logan, the latest film to come out from the Marvel Cinematic Universe factory.😁 It was reasonably entertaining, but it was a little bit more bloody than I was expecting! Hugh Jackman was great as the titular character and Dafne Keen, the young actress that played the film’s heroine, Laura (AKA X-23-23), was pretty good too. Unfortunately, though, Laura didn’t get much time for strong character development. I wonder if in the future there will be many figurines of Laura as she appears in Logan? I think it would be cool if Lego produced a minifigure of her, but that’s pretty unlikely, for obvious reasons.😋

Till next time, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you!😊

In Memoriam Carrie Fisher

Throne Room LeiaI’m sure everyone is aware that last week, at the end of 2016, Carrie Fisher passed away. Carrie Fisher was without a doubt a huge part of Star Wars and Star Wars has always been a big part of my life, so I really wanted to produce something to honour Ms Fisher and her iconic portrayal of Leia Organa, the princess from that amazing galaxy far, far away.

Carrie Fisher, as Princess Leia, had several outfits in the Star Wars films, the most famous of which was the gold metal bikini she wore in Return of the Jedi. I was young when RotJ came out and boy, that bikini was a real eye-opener!😀 But for this picture, I chose to depict her in the costume she wore at the end of A New Hope, in the medal presentation scene. I’m sure that most people would agree Ms Fisher not only looked fittingly regal and resplendent in that scene; she looked almost angelic.🙂

Farewell, Ms Fisher. You have left this world, but the light of your memory will continue to shine brightly for a long. long time.
