This is the Official Teaser Trailer for Raya and the Last Dragon, a new film from Disney that is scheduled to be released in March next year, in the US at least. To be honest, I’ve never been a fan of Disney animated films. Apart from their stories being generally unoriginal, their heroines all seem very generic. They tend to look the same, act the same, and have a habit of spouting American colloquialisms. However, I have to admit that this film does look interesting.
As you can see, Raya will apparently feature a heroine in an Asian-inspired fantasy world undertaking an epic quest, which could be pretty cool. And if the music in this trailer is anything to go by, the soundtrack will be pretty cool, too. It still has colloquialisms, of course, but if the rest of the film is solid, I think I could put up with them.😊
On Pinterest today I happened upon a poster (see above) for an upcoming 3D animated film called Ainbo. From what I can gather, this film was originally planned to be released in 2019, but it is now scheduled to be released in 2021 instead. You can check out an official teaser trailer for it below.
Put succinctly, Ainbo is the story of a young native girl from the jungles of South America, and her journey to save her home, which is being threatened by civilisation. From a purely personal point of view, I think it Ainbo has the potential to be a really fun film. And I say that for three reasons. Firstly, it’s about a jungle girl, and I’m a big fan of stories about jungle girls. Secondly, the animation looks top notch and very cute (in a Disney-like way). Thirdly, it is mainly being produced by a Peruvian studio (Tunche Films), which puts it somewhere close to my heart.
Unfortunately, Ainbo doesn’t seem to have an official website at the moment (the link provided by IMDB is dead) but if I come across more information about it in the future, I’ll write a follow-up post to this one. But for now, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you!😊
I’ve uploaded an illustration (for mature people) of Annie, from the cartoon The New Batman Adventures, to my pixiv gallery. This picture was drawn in response to a request. Till next time, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you!😊
For those who do not know, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir is a French 3D cartoon that is a clever hybrid of Japanese magical girls and American superheros. Despite being aimed at young girls, it seems to have a very broad international fan base. I rather like it myself: the heroine Marinette (AKA Ladybug) is very endearing, her interactions with Adrien (AKA Cat Noir) are amusing and their adventures are simple but fun.
The trailer for the second season is quite long and shows a number of little snippets, although these have probably been edited from a handful of the first few episodes. The battle between Ladybug and Cat Noir caught my eye: they have fought before, but only when Cat Noir was being controlled by someone else. This battle seems to be a serious one, but it is a kid’s show, so maybe I’m overthinking things.😅
The first season of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir aired in 2015. The trailer for the second season has no information about when (or where) it will start airing, but my guess is early 2018. Till next time, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you!😊
