Daily Heroine: Blousey Brown

Today’s Daily Heroine is: Blousey Brown (played by the endearingly bashful-looking Florrie Dugger), the sassy aspiring singer from the British musical comedy film Bugsy Malone, released in 1976. I first saw Bugsy Malone as a kid, and I absolutely loved it. The one thing that stands out about it is that although it is a film about 1930s American gangsters, the entire cast is played by kids, and they seem to have had a great time running around the scaled-down sets. I was able to watch Bugsy Malone again last week and I can say that I still find it entertaining. The musical numbers are quite catchy, and the cast (which includes a young Jodie Foster) does a very good job. Incidentally, Bugsy Malone is Florrie Dugger’s only film role.

I’m always on the look out for new interesting and likeable heroines, so if you have a particular favourite, please tell me about her! Till tomorrow, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you.😊
