Daily Heroine: Mai Kuju

Today’s Daily Heroine is: Mai Kuju, from the 80s manga Mai, the Psychic Girl, which was written by Kazuya Kudo and illustrated by the great Ryoichi Ikegami. The cover you see is from the first volume of the three-volume 2003 Japanese edition of Mai, the Psychic Girl (which was simply titled Mai in Japan). Mai is a pretty, kind and innocent young girl, yet one who possesses a frightfully powerful special ability. Mai is one of the main reasons I got into Japanese comics (and by extension, Japanese animation) in my youth. Mr Kudo wrote such an amazing tale about her and Mr Ikegami drew her so beautifully that I immediately fell in love with her.😍

I’m always on the look out for new interesting and likeable heroines, so if you have a particular favourite, please tell me about her! Till tomorrow, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you.😊
