Second “Spider-Verse” Trailer Released!

I completely missed the first one, but a second trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated film has been released. Spider-Man has always been my favourite super hero, probably because I think the design of his costume is incredibly cool. So although I’m not really into American comics, I have been interested in this particular film ever since I saw the teaser trailer for it earlier this year.

The previous trailers established that Miles Morales, one of several people who have worn the Spider-Man outfit in the comics, is the central character of this film. But this new trailer shows that it will also feature a number of other Spider-People, drawn from a wide variety of source materials. For me, these characters have certainly added to the appeal of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Especially the female ones, of course.😁

After the original, I think this is the coolest looking Spider-Person: Gwen Stacey‘s Spider-Woman (perhaps more commonly referred to as Spider-Gwen). Aside from the fact that in the main Spider-Man storyline she was Spider-Man‘s ill-fated first girlfriend, I don’t know very much about Gwen, but this version of her certainly does seem to be popular. Hopefully she will play a major role in this film. Oh, and incidentally Gwen is being voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, who is also starring in Bumblebee, another upcoming movie I’m interested in.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen this somewhat anime-influenced take on Spider-Man. According to Wikipedia, this character’s name is Peni Parker and in classic sci-fi anime fashion, she is a Japanese schoolgirl who pilots a large mecha known as SP//dr. This premise alone would be enough for me to want to see this film, although I imagine Peni will only have a supporting role in it.

Now, I can’t end this post without mentioning the appearance of Spider-Ham, the porcine version of Spider-Man, in this trailer. I remember seeing Spider-Ham comics when I was a kid (i.e. a long time ago) and at the time I thought it was a very clever parody of Spider-Man. But I never imagined that one day I’d see him in a blockbuster movie like this. Who knows, he may even end up stealing the show!🐷

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is out on December 13 here in Australia. Till next time, au revoir, arrivederci and may the force be with you!😊
